Korea's oldest restaurant and seolleongtang (ox bone soup) house, once frequented by Kim Du-han and Sohn Kee-chung.

Notes

  • Just as Lee Jung-jae's character said in the TV drama Yain Sidae, the broth is thick and hearty and loaded with meat. It's also the oldest restaurant in Korea, dating back more than 110 years to the Korean Empire era.
  • Honestly, I do wonder if it's a touch too mild. It's the kind of place that sticks to the absolute basics, meat, soup, rice, without reaching for any special extra flourish for flavor. If you want to see the originality of seolleongtang, though, it's a good place to visit at least once.
  • The portion size is definitely generous. In particular, they seemed to pile in the meat without a second thought, more than other places. I never order the 'special' size for gukbap, but even without it, I was plenty full here too.
