Patisserie Amoni
파티세리 아모니
A high-end dessert shop that earned a Michelin 2-star rating and a New York Times interview on the strength of baked cookies alone
Notes
- A shop that elevated baked cookies to the level of fine dessert art. Unfortunately, it's mostly takeout, with no seating to eat inside.
- Every season they release desserts with a new concept and sell them online, so keep an eye out. Fair warning. They sell out extremely fast (I tried to buy this year's 2025 Eulsa, or Year of the Blue Snake, package, but it sold out almost immediately).
- You can order online with delivery or pickup available from other regions too! Of course, you can also buy in person, but that sells out fast as well, so you need to get there early. I did an opening-time rush myself.
- Worth knowing: they have really well-baked financiers, their signature sand cookies, and some beautiful tarts.
- It's a Michelin 2-star shop, and it's even been featured in the New York Times!
- It's tucked away in a pretty out-of-the-way spot, so make sure you navigate carefully
- Granted, every so often the thought crosses your mind that it's pricey for baked cookies, and even after telling yourself 'well, with this much care put in...' you end up second-guessing it again. Maybe that's just the ceiling of what baked cookies can be. Still, the sand cookies are clearly high-end and clearly the product of a lot of creative experimentation.
