SeoulSeongsuJapaneseWarm Noodle Soup (Onmyeon)SkewersSpicy

A place with the feel of a rainy-night food cart crossed with a Japanese-style skewer (kkochi) bar, perfect for something warm and spicy. Onmyeon (a hot noodle soup) is the signature dish.

Notes

  • (I haven't tried it with alcohol, but) apparently the taste makes you crave a drink.
  • They serve draft beer.
  • Onmyeon is the signature menu item. That said, even the mild version is pretty spicy, so be careful if you can't handle spicy food.
  • Personally, I was very satisfied with the onmyeon. I'd recommend it when you want something intense and spicy. It has a feel similar to Japanese-style Taiwanese-Chinese food.
  • The bibimmyeon (mixed cold noodles) has a base that feels tangy, built on vinegar and seasoned sauce. The aftertaste gets spicier as you go. Personally, I don't think it quite surpasses the onmyeon's dominance.
  • As with most Japanese-style skewer places, the kkochi are a bit pricey.
